Welcome To From A to G! Here you will find what you need to know about American Girl.
American Girl was founded in 1986; opening first in Chicago. Then New York, then Los Angeles. Many stores have opened since then. The 3 original dolls were Kirsten, Molly, and Samantha. More have been added since then. There are now 9 American Girl Stores. In 2009, American Girl started archiving Dolls.
Samantha and Nellie were the first dolls to get archived. Then Kirsten. Then Felicity. Samantha and Kirsten were replaced by Rebecca and Julie. Felicity and Elizabeth were replaced by Cecile and Marie-Grace.
American Girl used to be owned by Pleasant Company. Apparently then they really made good quality stuff. Then Mattel bought American Girl, and in some places, the old ''Pleasant Company quality'' is missed.
Though American Girl is expensive($100 per doll, now not including tax!), and some things made by them could have been made better, they still make really good quality dolls! American Girl Doll arms, legs, and faces are hard, not squishy like other 18'' dolls.
If you watch the YouTube video below, you'll only see the American Girl Place in L.A. But Veronica Hill is right. Set aside a lot of time to view the ''Place'' stores. There are, though, ''Boutiques and Bistro''s. They are smaller, and can be viewed in a short period of time. But enjoy your time there, maybe buy a doll, do a craft, or just go there to have fun. If you like American Girl, you'll love your nearest American Girl Store!
